How Are Flexible Packaging Adhesives Applied?
Flexible Packaging Adhesives are mainly applied by roll coating.
The coating unit of dry laminator and extrusion machine are same, both of them use gravure cylinder and rubber pressing roll. The lines and depth of sell on coating cylinder will affect the solvent based laminating adhesive's dry coating weight. The coating cylinder is not heated.
The coating unit of solvent less laminator is composed by 5 rollers: 3 steel rolls plus 2 rubber rolls. The steel rolls are heated. The final coating weight of the solvent free polyurethane adhesive is affected by the speed difference between transferring roll and coating roll.
